Rhodes Hat-Trick Gives Vikes Soccer Second Straight in Florida

vikes watv_logoThe University of Victoria men's soccer team won its second straight game during their U.S. exhibition tour with a 5-0 win over an Under-20 state champion team from Boca Raton, Florida.

James Rhodes of Victoria scored three goals, with singles from Craig Taylor of Victoria and Thomas Mallette of Trail, B.C. Elliot Mitrou earned the shutout, his second cleansheet in two games on the trip.

The Vikes wrap up their three-game Florida tour with a game against Lynn University on Thursday at 3 p.m. local time (12 p.m. PST). UVic previously defeated Florida Atlantic 3-0.

"We'll be in for a tough game on Thursday against a good squad. And add in that it's supposed to be hot, it will be a test," said Vikes head coach Bruce Wilson.

 UVic hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps in a friendly match on Sunday Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. at Centennial Stadium (BUY TICKETS)
