Women's Adidas Premiership - Sat. February 18th: Capilano RFC at Burnaby Lake Rugby Club (Burnaby Lake Sports Complex) 11:30am Bayside Sharks at United Rugby Club (Town Centre) 11:30/1:00pm TBC SFU Rugby at Velox Valkyries (Velox RFC) 11:30am
Capilano at Burnaby Lake Reigning provincial champions Burnaby Lake (2-0) currently lead the league offensively averaging 43.5 points per game. A more impressive statistic, however, is their relentless defence which has not allowed a single point against. Burnaby blanked Bayside by a score of 51-0 this past Saturday and appear to be in cruise control heading into this weekend's clash against Capilano (0-2). Burnaby's Deb Capps and Emily Young currently lead the offence, boasting three tries a piece. Capilano narrowly missed out on their first win of the season last Saturday, falling 24-22 against SFU. Capilano kicker Hilary Leith ranks 15th overall in league scoring, boasting a try and a convert through two matches.
Bayside at United Tri-Cities club United (2-0) are currently in top form, averaging 37.5 ppg and just seven points against. United boasts the league's top scorers in Alicia Guerin (4 tries) and Candace Barry (2 tries, 5 conversions) as well as provincial team standout Paniz Pahlavanlu (2 tries). Bayside (1-1) are still finding their footing in the second half after an impressive Fall season where they finished as Lower Mainland runner-ups. Bayside will look to rebound from a tough 51-0 loss last week and will rely on their top scorer Paige Smith (1 try, 3 conversions) to ignite their offence.
SFU at Velox Boasting their share of provincial team representatives, SFU (1-1) are new to the Premiership level this season. Demi Stamatakis (2 tries, 3 conversions) currently ranks third in overall scoring and the students have already claimed their first win in a 24-22 decision over Capilano last Saturday. Island champions Velox Valkyries (2-0) currently rank third in offensive production, averaging 33.5 points per game and their flyers should be a tough test for the SFU defence. -- Women's Adidas Premiership Scoring race: T1.
