ABOUT STREET CAFE

Every Friday night a group of students from Lambrick Park Church arrive at the Mustard Seed Street Church to serve the most deliciously excellent dinner for the homeless or those living in shelters throughout our city. The Mustard Seed youth group partners with Lambrick Park for this bi-weekly event.

The situation is created into that of an up-scale restaurant. Masterful paintings are hung throughout our kitchen area, the lighting is dimmed and candles are lit. Little, cafe-style tables are brought in; chinaware and silverware the medium and unforeseen utensils (the norm for the street meal: paper plates and plastic cutlery). Chefs prepare the meal, and the meal is not set, there is a menu to consider. Baristas craft tasty hot drinks, the Maitre'd welcomes and the waiters and waitresses lead each person to their tables. The service is top-notch and the live entertainment, usually by guitar and vocals, builds a serene dining climate. As one waits for a seat to dine, cool drinks and snacks are served in our sanctuary-turned theatre. Before and after the meal the people are invited to relax and watch a movie with us. It truly has the feel of a theatre as recently we have installed a big screen.
