Story and Photos by Christian J. Stewart
BC Lion quarterback Travis Lulay and kicker Paul McCallum brought the Grey Cup to Mt. Doug High School in Victoria Monday and gave the 2011 BC High School AAA Varsity Provincial Champion Rams a chance to dream about someday lofting the cherished trophy in the future.
After introductions by Saanich Mayor Frank Leonard and BC Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Ida Chong, Lulay and McCallum carried in the cup and then entertained the crowd with stories of their championship season.
The audience then had a chance to ask the players a few questions before the Junior Varsity and Varsity Ram teams made their way to the floor to have their photos taken with the elegant trophy.
The BC Lions new slogan is "Your Team, Your Town, Your Cup" and as the only CFL team in the Province, are conducting a Province wide tour to show the Cup off in a number of communities around the Province.
Following today's appearance at Mt. Doug, the tour stopped at the Oak Bay Safeway in the afternoon and will be at the Bear Mountain Fieldhouse Monday night at 6:30.
On Tuesday, the Cup heads north for other Island stops in Nanaimo and Comox prior to heading to Kelowna later Tuesday evening. For details on the Cup Tour schedule, please head to http://www.yourcup.ca/
